It is perhaps the most under appreciated coffee brewing system out there. You get to combine the french press steeping process with the filtered pour over system for no grounds. I recommend this to everyone I know. It works great! I only wish that there was a ceramic option, but the plastic is 100% ok with me. |
| See Products Related To Clever Coffee Dripper Small: Abid We are really excited about this little filtercone; it greatly improves the quality of the coffee you brew and it is so simple! This design features more durable plastic, and is easy to disassemble for cleaning.Like all filtercone brewing methods, you directly control the temperature of the water, ratio of water and coffee and infusion time. The dripper will fit on cups and thermoses with tops wider than 1.5" and less than 3.75" in diameter. Of course, if you put the dripper on a very narrow thermos, you should make sure the dripper is stable. BPA-free Plastic. Not dishwasher or microwave safe. In essence, the Clever Coffee Dripper combines the best features of French press and filter drip brewing, eliminating the drawbacks of each. With French press brewing, you have control over steeping time, but heat loss and sediment in the cup can be a problem. Brewing with a paper filter is easy and convenient; the problem is lack of control over steeping time (i.e. the coffee begins to drain immediately). By adding a stopper to the filtercone, the Clever Coffee Dripper combines control over steeping time with a sediment-free cup. We call this a "full immersion brewing" method. #2 sized filters work well with this but they will stick up a little higher than the dripper's rim. A #1 filter will sit about a 1/4" below the rim which could allow for grinds in your cup. The dripper will fit on cups with tops wider than 1.5" and less than 3.75" in diameter. BPA-free Plastic. It doesn't come with a lid, but it does come with a coaster that is almost big enough to function as a lid. This brewer holds a total of 11 fluid oz. but when allowing room for the ground coffee, you will only be able to pour in about 10.6 fluid oz of water, yielding a 10 fluid oz cup of brewed coffee. It's 5.25" wide and 4.75" tall. We feel this smaller Clever dripper brews the perfect amount for one person or 2 people who like to drink smaller amounts at a time. get the large the small size clever dripper doesn't make enough coffee to fill my cup all the way. I would get the larger one even if you plan on using it to make coffee for one. |

I've bought a few french press coffee makers over the years and love them until it's time to clean them. You end up spending more time cleaning that metal mesh than you do drinking the coffee you made with it. This combines the parts of the french press I like (more control over the brewing time, better flavor, variable strength of the brew) and eliminates the mess. Another thing about this device I appreciate is that I can take it to the homes of people that don't drink coffee and make my own there; several members of my family prefer tea but I still love them despite their being wrongly wrong in their wrongness about tea. I put in a #4 filter, wet it so it stays in place, scoop in the coffee, add the water a bit at a time (get the grounds wet and sit for a few seconds so they won't float to the top as much), wait several minutes and then put the dripper on the mug. There's a recessed plate that the rim of the mug hits that will open the valve at the bottom of the dripper... |

If necessary, use a detergent-free cleaner designed for carafes and filtercones. Not for a large amount of coffee - quality, not quantity! I originally bought the smaller size thinking it would be perfect for one standard coffee mug, but it didn't quite cut it. I would make my coffee with about 2-3 tablespoons of ground and fill water right to the absolute top edge of the dripper. This yielded about 2/3's of a coffee mug for me because of the water trapped in the grounds and the paper filter. I tried numerous ways to get more out and simply wasn't enough. I had to go this larger/standard size which then gets me about 1.5 -2 mugs of coffee, maybe a bit more on occasion. I was very impressed with the coffee and easy of cleanup. I love my french press, but sometimes the silt is a bit much, and the extra parts and cleanup aren't always great. This gave me french press quality and then some, flavors are even more smooth honestly, and the cleanup and speed of use is fantastic. Absolutely love this method! Only drawback is with even the large size you are only getting about 2 cups, so it's definitely more of a... |
| Still prefer my Aeropress but I think Clever is a nice alternative I am an avid Aeropress fan but was looking to give my daughter a device that could produce similar consistent results with a little less effort. The Clever Dripper is it. Have seen a few demos on Youtube and couldn't resist trying it. Ground up a nice Sumatra to a drip grind (20) on my Baratza Maestro burr grinder. Used about 18 grams of coffee. Pre-moistened the filter with hot water. Added the coffee, Added a little hot water and let it bloom for about 15 seconds Added about 10 oz of hot water off the boil and covered it At about 1:30 I opened the cover, stirred the top, and recovered At 4:00 I popped it on a cup and let her drip Results versus my normal Aero were close. The Clever produced a nice smooth tasting cup of coffee. Maybe not as strong as my Aero but still quite good. Easy cleanup, easy to use, nice device and worth it. |
