First remove the front cover, remove the plastic wrap from the odor filter and the Hepa filter and placed them back in the unit, put the pre-filter on top and replaced the front cover. I then turned the unit on by pressing the Power button. The device has a large blue indicator light in the shape of a circle. The color changes from Blue (clean), Dark Purple (polluted), and Red (highly polluted) as a sign of air quality. I has 4 settings A, 1, 2, and 3. A is automatic, it monitors the air quality and adjusts the fan speed as needed. 1, 2, and 3 settings are basically hi, med, and low fan speeds that run constantly at whatever speed number is selected. It also has a timer that you can set so the device will run for 1hr, 4 hrs, or 8 hrs and then shut itself off. Very simple to set up and operate.
