Great Coffee Percolator
This is a great little coffee percolator, especially for the inexpensive price. For one person it makes more than I need, since the full "8 cups" comes out to about 4 normal mugs full.

I used the original plastic top for the first use, and it didn't seem to get too hot at all. Some mentioned the top melting in other reviews. Once the pot reaches a boil turn the heat down to medium, since it will still percolate there's no reason to boil on a red hot "high" burner (which may have caused the melting they mentioned).

Just in case I also purchased the replacement glass top (B0000CFM6K) advertised with the percolator here. It attached nice and tight, and works great too. I'm sure the inexpensive glass replacement top will last as long as the coffee pot.

Another great thing I noticed was that when I wet the basket, as recommended, before loading the coffee grinds no grinds ended up in the coffee at all. I thought there would be, but no grinds...

Copco Polished stainless stove top percolator. 4-8 cup capacity. Dripless spout and dishwasher safe with easy to clean stainless steel filter basket.Percolated coffee is an acquired taste, but for those who like it strong and black, this stovetop coffee pot is the way to go. The percolator's polished stainless steel exterior and stepped base give it a vintage look and its brewing methods are strictly old school; however, its construction is completely up to date. Water pours into the bottom of the pot and the pump tube with the filter basket goes in next. Coffee drinkers add their grinds to the filter basket and then place the cover over the basket. Once the lid is tightly secured, the percolator can be put on a gas or electric heat source for brewing. When the water boils, it travels up the pump tube and through the grounds and the familiar sloshing of brown liquid in the lid's transparent plastic knob signifies that percolation has begun. After about 5 to 7 minutes of percolating, coffee is ready for drinking. This pot brews about 4 to 8 cups of coffee and a handy water level indicator etched into the side ensures that brewers add the appropriate amount of water for their grinds. For safety, the plastic handle stays cool over a hot burner and the spout provides dripless pouring. --Cristina Vaamonde
Good, but too narrow for most stoves
Percolators really are a forgotten gem. With good coffee, nothing beats them for good coffee at low cost. In a small kitchen, nothing is as space-efficient as a stovetop unit. This model is good, as far as it goes. It is attractive and works well, although I would prefer that the basket and base were a bit wider. As others have commented, the plastic dome really is an inexcusable shortcoming. Even with careful use, it will fail after a year or so. The inner surface etches to a white color. The threads strip. And the bottom edge may distort (apparently steam is hot enough to melt the plastic. ) They could have provided a glass dome for about 50 cents more and made a much better product. You can get a glass replacement, but with delivery it'll cost you nearly 8 bucks. Another shortcoming others have noted is the scrapingly sharp edges of the top and spout. They do seem to get smoother with use, however. One problem with this model is that the base is too narrow for all electric and many...

I still love the under-the-counter convenience of this coffee maker
I still love the under-the-counter convenience of this coffee maker, but Black & Decker certainly didn’t improve anything with this new design. The water reservoir is more horizontal in design (like a drawer) rather than my previous model which was designed vertically (like a pitcher). It makes it awkward to fill because the little water level indicator window is not facing you if you’re holding the reservoir with your right hand. You have to turn it around so the water level indicator is facing you so you can see it. This is really important because if you’re trying to “eyeball” the water level and fill it too full, you’ll have a big mess because the pot will overflow. When the water level reaches the full line on the indicator, the reservoir is actually only about half full.
The other feature that I don’t like is that the pot is not see-through, so you can’t see how much coffee is left in it. I realize this is necessary...

Black & Decker 8-cup SPACEMAKER Coffee Makers mounts under cabinet to free countertops of clutter. Perfect for apartments, recreational vehicles and office nooks where space is limited. Handy templates guide installation onto flat bottom style cabinets. Generously brews up to 12 cups of coffee without taking up valuable countertop space. 24-hour digital QuickTouch programming buttons for fast and easy coffee scheduling; Sneak-A-Cup feature allows for grabbing a cup of coffee while brewing is underway; Removable water reservoir for easy and convenient filling; Nonstick "keep hot" carafe plate keeps coffee hot and wipes clean easily; Cord management hook stores cord out of sight; Auto shut off for peace of mind; Step-by-step mounting instructions with template and standard screw lengths are provided to fit average flat bottom cabinets. Plastic, Stainless Steel and Black finish. Two person installation recommended. Requires tape, ruler, electric drill with a 1/32" drill bit and a screwdriver and protective glasses. Recommended for installation only on flat bottom cabinets (without bottom light rail molding).
Basic and useable.
Easy to install if you have flat bottom cabinets. If yours have a lip, you'll need to use a spacer. Mine had a 3/4" lip so a 3/4 plank cut from some plywood made an excellent spacer. Mounting holes are drilled through the bottom of the cabinet so the spacer just becomes part of the assembly when it's all over. It's a basic coffee pot that doesn't use up counter space. What more could you ask for?

Can't open the carafe
The coffee maker is fine. Cone filter basket, thermal carafe. All good items. BUT the lid on the carafe is very difficult to open. The design is such that you are supposed to insert your fingers into the groove on the top of the lid and turn. If you are a woman with FINGERNAILS, this can't happen. If you have arthritis or just weak hands, you are going to have to call for help to get this coffee out.

The main flaw in the design of this pot is the lid on the carafe. If Mr. Coffee can come up with a lid that's easy to open, they'll have a great system here.

Trust this coffee maker’s double-wall stainless-steel thermal carafe to keep your coffee hot and fresh for hours. Plus, the stainless-steel accent complements today’s kitchens.
No burnt taste
I like it. I want my coffee hot & available without the burn from sitting on a hot plate.
Pros- Keeps coffee hot without burning it (2-3 hour)
Easy to operate
Shuts off after brew, no hot plate
Programable with clock
Cons- Must prep canister with hot water for coffee to stay hot for more
than an hour
Screw on canister top inconvient but seals heat well
Great sized coffee pot, not too big and not too little!
Coffee pots, coffee pots, I have lots of them. 12 cup, 10 cup, 4 cup, 1 cup and 1 single travel mug cup; thermal pots and regular, some programmable and some with the sneak a cup feature. Like Goldie Locks some were too big and others too little.

I was looking for a 6 cup and found this 8 cup. It was on sale (50% off) so it was too good to pass up. All my coffee makers work well, do they each have their own quirks; pros and cons? Sure, and this new pot is no different but overall I am very happy with it.

I last bought the Black & Decker DCM18 Brew 'N Go Coffeemaker to use in our motorhome (I'm the only one who drinks coffee). It works fine but I found that I was making 2 batches of coffee; one when I first got up and the other for the road. Even the four cup was too little; hence the 8 cup. It is a bit large for the motorhome (to store as I actually have a large countertop area) and I probably will have excess coffee but overall is great, especially if I happen...
