Every other filter I've used (mostly the 9990 model) has produced great tasting water (our tap tastes like swamp water) but this is virtually undrinkable, to me, and I will have to replace it right away. It doesn't taste like our tap water, so that's not to blame; it has a plastic/chemical taste (and smell.) I I guess I took for granted that all filters would produce great tasting water since the product has been commoditized - I don't know what accounts for the awful taste produced by this one.
