This filter was easy to install - no fit problems but as another reviewer cautioned, I had to flush several gallons of water before it began to run clear - much more than required of previous filter installations for my 10 year old Kenmore. Also, despite the water finally running clear, the taste is horrible. Every other filter I've used (mostly the 9990 model) has produced great tasting water (our tap tastes like swamp water) but this is virtually undrinkable, to me, and I will have to replace it right away. It doesn't taste like our tap water, so that's not to blame; it has a plastic/chemical taste (and smell.) I I guess I took for granted that all filters would produce great tasting water since the product has been commoditized - I don't know what accounts for the awful taste produced by this one.
