It's very simple to put together - no tools required. You just snap the handle & floor head on to the body & place it all on top of the microfiber pad. The water tank & solution tank are easily filled at the faucet. This model has a built-in water filter (should be replaced as needed) so you don't have to worry about using hard water from the faucet as long as you replace this filter. The filter starts out cream colored & will discolor when it needs replacing. Or you can use distilled water but I think the machine needs the filter in place to operate properly. Vacuum your floors well before using so the machine can focus on cleaning & not make mud. Move slowly over your floor with the steamer. Let it do the work for you. Hoover makes great products in general -- I have and older version and a more recent one of their cordless vacuum, and it's stellar. This steamer is equally well designed. First, as others have said, it takes seconds to put together -- and this is coming from a person who is *terrible* at putting things together. Even I got it without looking at the directions. I then filled up the two chambers, one with water only and one with both cleaning solution (they included a sample bottle) and water. I plugged it in to heat up while at the same time vacuumed my kitchen floor to prepare for the steaming. I chose the "wood" setting on the machine and started pressing the lever a couple of times to get solution out. The machine is very conservative with the amount of water/steam it releases from the machine. People who are paranoid about their hard wood floors getting wet will love...

The kit comes with two microfiber pads for cleaning your floors and a small bottle of solution. They also include a "carpet glider) so you can refresh and sanitize (? I don't really know that this is possible!) your carpet with the steamer. Set up is fairly easy: put the three main parts together, and fill the two reservoirs, one for plain water, one for a mixture of the solution and water, and put on one of the pads and you're ready to mop. And you are mopping. This is only propelled by you, it is not a vacuum. So this may not be the right mop for you if you have any kind of problems with your shoulders!
