Perfect Replacement
Just what I was looking for, to replace the aging filter/wicks for my Essick Air D46720 tower humidifier. These ARE made different than the original 1040's that came with it, but I think they work better because I'm going through a lot more water from the tanks. These are more of a honeycomb design, rather than the vertical zig-zag paper wick loaded with glue that everyone hates & usually falls apart in the humidifier as you use them.

****UPDATE Oct. 25, 2015****

Since I live in an area that doesn't have hard water (Eastern seaboard peninsula), I'm able to use the first set of wicks for a second season. They *are* somewhat discolored, but still usable for a second time. Just turn them around with the other side facing out. I'm not being tight with my money, just if something is still perfectly good, why not use it again?

These are better build quality than the OEM, but have their quality issues as well.
These seem like better quality than the OEM models, but they have had their issues with quality as well. If you use the OEM models, you'll notice some are poorly hot glued in, and they are just sitting there in their frames because of gravity - well this has happened too, only these don't appear to be hot glued in as the OEM models are. Actually I'm not sure how these are secured in there, but most of them do stay in the frames. Anyway, the wicking seems to be effective, and seems to gather more minerals at the top of the filter than the OEM model, which means less gunk in the tank over time - I do use the humidifier anti-bacteriral agent as well.
