Prior to replacement, the drinking water was still clear and tasted fine, it was just time to replace the old filter as it had been installed for a while. After installing this filter, the water was cloudy and had particles floating in the water (I assume from the filter element). I tried many times to purge the system thinking that it would eventually clear up. After running several gallons through the system, I finally gave up as the water quality had not improved, so, figured it was not going to clear up. Since we needed the filter, I had to go out and purchase replacement filter locally--I purchased a genuine Frigidaire filter. I installed it in the refrigerator and still had particles in the water (they were remaining in line from the filter I had purchased from Amazon). After purging the system again with about two large glasses of water, the water was clear again. I am not sure if the cloudy water was unhealthy...
