Difficult to find for several months, this coffee filter is for the discontinued KitchenAid basket type "ProLine" series. The product does as it is described, but is difficult to remove if left in the machine an extended time.

KitchenAid KPCWE Coffeemaker Water Filter
Kind of funny, but I hadn't realized my coffeemaker had a water filter until I followed the directions for cleaning and descaling. When I took it out, the original filter that came with the coffeemaker was discolored and grey, so I knew it should be changed.

After finding the part number, searching the Internet provided a link to Amazon. This was exactly the part I needed, with KitchenAid packaging (not a "replacement" part), and this price was the best I found.

This filter is actually optional, but, according to the coffeemaker directions the "advanced ion-exchange water filter reduces chlorine and other contaminants which impair coffee flavor." It also "softens the water, which extends the time between descalings."

According to the directions, this filter lasts for approximately 25 gallons of water. To make the best coffee, and at this price, I recommend the filter.
