Simple, renewable and effective After going thru numerous fabric filters that couldn't keep up, our water tech installed one of these to combat heavy sediment, sand and even large specs of iron in our well water. He installed a timer to allow it to auto purge a couple of times each day. This original filter has lasted and worked well for over 12 years saving untold damage to our downstream water softener. About once a year, I remove and manually clean the filter to extract any sediment that gets locked in the mesh. When the $ 500 timer failed, I replaced it with a $ 50 water bird irrigation timer that has worked flawlessly for 5 years. Very happy with and dependent on this tool.
