These are a great and much more affordable option to the name brand water filter I use on my refrigerator. They work well, and leave no taste once the water has been run completely through. The reason I dock the star is because it took a lot longer to run the water through when changing the filter to get it primed than the others I have used, and it took a couple days to really get going smoothly (i.e. work out all the extra air, have the water flow properly). Also, it was hard to get in straight, and had to be twisted and banged a bit to get in properly, even though everything looked the same. As far as value, this can't be beat. The filtration system works wonderfully and this is about 25% less than I'd been paying for filters, and a three pack is always handy to have, since I go by the light on the refrigerator and taste instead of time the filter has been used. Great alternative filter Great alternative to original filter. Installation of comparable filter was easy. Just remember to take caps off the new filter. I have a frigidare and the filter fit perfectly. I needed to replace my filter a year ago, yuck. The Tier1 doesn't have the clear filter like the original filter. I do not care to see the stuff floating around in the filter. I like having the stickers to know when the filter was replaced. I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest review.

Value This is a great value compared to the name brand filters. Installation was fairly easy. I removed the old filter and then inserted the new one. I took a pretty good push to get it to pop in but it wasn't that difficult. It also comes with a white plastic cover to go over the filter and it fit my fridge perfect. After I inserted the filter it says to run water through it for 3 minutes to get all the air out. The first couple cups did not come out clear, had some black in them which I am assuming was charcoal. Then there was a big air bubble that went through then it started getting clear.
