I will say you need a quarter inch hex size socket, just FYI, and you need two adjustable wrenches - one to hold the nuts still for the pipe and one to do the turning. Don't forget to turn off the water and have a bucket ready to put the disconnected pipe into as it will let out quite a lot of water even with the water turned off. Eventually while changing the filter a month ago Our gshs5mgx GE refrigerator from 2008 has had several issues. One problem has been that the water dispenser was very slow after changing filters. Sometimes it took a week for water to dispense quickly, one time it never got better. Eventually while changing the filter a month ago, something broke and water sprayed everywhere, had pull the fridge out and turn off water. I ordered this housing and a it has fixed the water dispensing problems. I guess I won't know for sure until a couple more filter changes; but initial results are great. MSWF filters actually fit/seat into this housing much better and we have great flow out of the dispenser now. Sucks that it wasn't this good from the start!!! I left the small metal cover off the back of the fridge because it severely bends/smashes the water lines attached to this housing.

very easy to install, fixed my slow water dispenser problem The new replacement filters do not fit the original refrigerator filter heads properly, which causes the water the dispense very slowly. Well, after swapping out the filter head with this one, the new replacement filters works perfectly now. I think it probably took me about 10-15 minutes to install. If you had the same problem as me, then don't be scared to change the filter head to fix your problem.
