These filters are made of polyester and are 8 quarts in size. Micron rating is 30-50. These filters can be reused and washed with hot water. The filters should not lose fibers during the process unless the filter has been brushed and fibers are on the outside surface. These filters are made of food grade polyester fibers. awesome for the Hobbist Maple Syrup-er I gave this as a gift to my father who taps or maple trees in the back yard. These filter are meant to go with the strainer but they seem much bigger which is why i didn't give this a full 5 stars because I am not sure how it is going to work with the strainer but none the less it is an amazing gift for someone who doesn't make maple syrup by the giant bucket full.
