The only way to get rid of the scale was to polish with a dry towel, using so much pressure I was afraid of breaking the glass. Glasses used for other beverages did not have this problem. Now things are much better. Some days, the glasses look great straight out of the dishwasher. Other days, a little polishing is nice, but the scale is not as thick and much less tenacious.
