They also did not engineer the unit to have space in the back for a condensate pump so you will have to cut a whole in the wall behind the ice maker if you want to install a pump. I just don't know what these engineers are thinking these days… I ended up buying a Little Giant condensate pump to catch the water from the ice maker and pump it into a sink drain next to the ice maker. It works fine now but I sure wish I had known it needed the pump before I ordered it. Maybe I missed something in the product description. At least now when (or if) the pump goes out I can easily change it out. The last KitchenAid ice maker I bought had a built in condensate pump but it kept burning up so I actually think you're better off with this one.

GREAT ICE MAKER This is an excellent ice maker. It makes "wet" ice fast, Is quite & is easy to install. If there was an issue with it, it would be that when the trays of ice dump into the hopper they maintain their form as a complete "grid" of ice. BUT with a metal scoop (instead of the plastic one provided) a simple tap w the scoop breaks the ice apart easily. Make no mistake this I'd a GREAT ICE MAKER and far from the most expensive!!
