I get excited about the latest and greatest innovations in the coffee preparation world, but try not to jump on the band wagon just because of hype. After weeks of research, I decided to try the Wave before I tried the Hario V60. I was especially drawn to this setup because of the all-in-one dripper and decanter. When you have a collection of coffee brewing devices like myself, simplification is sometimes a blessing! While I have not been able to completely exhaust and try every scenario possible (brown vs white filters), this Wave vs the metal 185, I can tell you that it definitely brews a better and more complex cup of coffee compared to a Melitta pour over, an Aeropress (I've tried dozens of prep methods with this thing), and a Capresso Coffeteam Therm! Although I own several pour over method drippers, this is the most aesthetically pleasing setup- the coffee I make with it is smooth, hot and full bodied... instructions on how to use it are all over, but I use the standard - 21gr to 12 oz of water- 30 gr/18 oz for a full pot- the full pot takes about 2.5 mins to brew, the 12 oz about 1:45- the size of your grind affects how slow- they recommend it should take 3:00 on a full 18 oz pot of coffee. A beautiful and pleasing design that's a snap to wash; this unit arrived bubble wrapped in perfect condition several days earlier than expected, even coming from China! I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 for the lack of a cover on the glass carafe top or middle of the neck.

Excellent product shipped directly from Japan I used to have a french press and in search of a new coffee maker after I cracked the glass yet again, I found this. What a difference it makes in the taste of my coffee. I wasn't a believer until I had my first sip. The coffee tastes "soft" does that make sense? I'm ruined for any other coffee! My only concern is that the glass that holds the filter seems so delicate, being clumsy me, I'm extra careful hoping that I can replace just that portion if god forbid I break it in the future. Excellent product shipped directly from Japan. Given the international shipping, I believe it took approximately 2-3 weeks for it to come to New York from Japan but well worth the wait.
