You can set the amount of "spray", hot or cold, timer, sleep timer, humidity percent etc. The machine is very quiet, I don't hear it at all when sleeping. The nozzle where the mist comes out is double adjustable, you can have the majority of the mist going in one direction and a smaller stream pointed in any other direction. The control buttons are touch sensitive, no actual button, just a place where you touch, like a smart phone or something. There is a slot you can pull out which has a spongy material that you can add scents to. I use essential oils which I also use to make soap such as orange, vanilla etc. Works very well.
