Functions well. Makes very good ice tea. The pitcher-top heating element location takes less counter space than comparable side-by-side units, but requires a wide pitcher base for stability. The wide base is an issue. The manufacturer attached a wide plastic base to pitcher with small screws. This technique created several small compartments that fill with soap and water when it is washed. The manufacturer must be aware of this issue. They provided a small weep hole to drain accumulated water from each compartment. It takes quite a while to drain them. Essentially, this pitcher cannot be immersed, and cannot be washed in the dishwasher. That is an understandable precaution with fine china, but an irritating nuisance for a plastic tea pitcher.
