Did not really need timer/clock and other complications and things to fail. Price is right, if you do not like the permanent filters buy the even cheaper one here. I have usually not cared for the permanent filters and this one does leave a little (very little) fine stuff in cup. I think the rinse and put back in is better than fighting to get just one filter out of a stack. My old 4 cup Mr C could use standard size filters (3 1/2 " 8-12 cup), think this one will also. It is very easy to dump a disposable filter out without dripping all the way to the trash can. The top is a little hard to open but needs to be because it must hold down the pause and serve valve. It is fine after you get used to it. I ran three runs of water through before I made coffee and I feel that it makes great coffee. I timed it today and it was about 6 minutes from turn on to finished. It could use a little better...

Good for one or two It is very easy to spill, unless you pour VERY slowly. It also makes coffee quickly, with no trouble. It's not slower or faster than any other similar coffee maker. But the first couple of pots will taste like plastic, even if you wash it, so I recommend brewing using vinegar a few times and then nothing but water for a couple of times before you use it to make coffee. They should tell you that in the instructions. My only other real complaint is that if you use the permanent plastic filter instead of a paper one, the coffee will be very weak. Also, if you are a heavy coffee drinker, buy yourself a regular coffee maker, not this one. The cups are only 5 oz each, not 8 oz. If you fill the pot to the rim it makes just enough coffee to fill two regular cups or travel mugs (not the jumbo kind). Perfect for one or two people who only need a single cup.

Excellent I've bought many coffee pots through out the years and this one is by far the best. Easy to use and clean. Does not continue to drip coffee after being turned off. The heating plate is great, stays in pristine condition after months of use. I purposely waited to review it because I thought it would not hold up for this long, it's been almost four months and still in perfect shape. One of my best buys yet!

There are two versions of this coffee maker. One is the plain Jane model, the other is the programmable version. I have plain Jane (no programming)the one reviewed here, and it is a very good basic four cup coffee maker. Just right for one or two people. The removable basket makes for easy cleaning and is dishwasher safe. I've used, French press types, Chemex, etc, etc, through the years, but this simple product is as good as it gets for a small coffee maker. To downrate the product for reasons that have nothing to do with the actual performance is misleading.

It's perfect for brewing my hot tea I brewed hot tea several times a day for many years with a 12-cup Mr. Coffeemaker. After using the machine approximately 25,000 times, it was getting pretty grungy and worn out, so I ordered a new 4-cup Mr. Coffeemaker, the DRX5 programmable coffeemaker. It served me well for about 14 months, then the power buttons failed. (In fairness, the area around and under the coffeemaker was often wet, and I didn't do a good job of drying the area, so the contacts eventually corroded.) I replaced it with a DR5 model, which has a rocker switch, which I believe is less likely to fail. The DR5 is perfect for brewing a cup (an 18-ounce mug, actually) of hot tea. Using teabags or loose tea, I've got a steaming hot cup in about 5-6 minutes. I've seen tea-makers that cost as much as $250, but the Mr. Coffeemaker was less than $20 and does a great job. Good But Not Great I've tried so many 4-cup coffee makers, I was very pleased to find this one with such great reviews. The good news: It makes a great cup of really hot coffee. The design of the brew basket is great -- it not only swings out, but you can remove the filter in a little basket. It is very compact and cute! The bad news: When it arrived, I was suprised at how lightweight and flimsy it was. Yes, just like the ones in hotel rooms. I have had mine for five months now, and this morning the very flimsy plastic lid on the glass carafe broke off. Without it completely attached and correctly seated, the coffee doesn't flow down into the carafe and just sits in the brewer. This may sound like a minor problem, but the lid attachment is very flimsy and light and I'm surprised it held together as long as it did. Still looking for the perfect 4-cup coffee maker.

It makes really rich, flavorful coffee with this grind, and most of the time that's the kind of coffee I like anyway. So the coffee maker and the filter are back to stay. French presses seem messy and hard to maintain by comparison. Don't use this if you like to use coffees like Folgers, Maxwell House, or 8 O'clock coffee, as you will get water. Use a filter or percolator coffee process for that. But if you like the finer grind and a stronger coffee, this is the way to go.

Coffee is very weak I actually read reviews that said weak coffee and bought it in spite of what I read. Now I feel silly because they were right so I will stick with paper filters. Believe the reviews that say weak coffee as they are true.
