This kettle is terrifying.
This kettle is terrifying.
I received it, read through the instructions, and followed them to the letter. Before using the kettle you are to fill it with clean water, no additives, and boil it. Rinse and repeat.
I literally had a geyser in my kitchen! (I'm using literal in the literal sense here.) No joke - there was boiling water shooting out the top of this thing.
Idiot that I am, I thought to myself that I'd never be filling it up all the way anyway. Maybe this wasn't a deal breaker.
Then I poured out the water to refill it for the second boil, planning to use only half the water this round, and I notice the inside bottom of the pot is now discolored (the "stainless steel" has tiny white bubble stains all over the outer edge), and there is an awful hot plastic odor wafting at me.

No, I cannot recommend this kettle to anyone. My old Rival ($19.99 from Walmart several years ago) is less scary, less smelly, and only a little bit uglier than this...
