(The tech said they all do it eventually, but I was still irritated by the timing!) I ordered this kit hoping that replacing these parts would solve the problem. Everything arrived quickly and intact, and they do appear to be genuine Aprilaire parts. Replacing the water pad was easy, and I will never pay for someone else to do that again. But replacing the hoses and valves was beyond me, and I had to get the tech back to do that anyway. This kit probably didn't end up saving me any money because I had to pay for installation, but if you're handy and daring, this could be the solution for you.
