I had to cut an inch off the top just to be able to use it in the humidifier. This is by no means a judgment on the quality of the filter, just that it doesn't fit the model specified it would.

Decided to order a different brand this time I have a Kenmore 14804. This filter is made of decent quality and it properly fit the unit. I previously bought 3 of them. And they work about as well as other brands - all it does is soak up water - not a whole lot to be expected from something so simple. I was going to re-order the same filter again when I read the review about the smoke smell. The last 2 of the 3 filters used produced an unpleasant smoke smell (like fireplace ashes) that went through the house with the air conditioner running. I couldn't figure out what was causing it. I never thought to associate it with the humidifier - I would have expected a moldy/musty oder if an antibacterial agent wasn't used - but certainly not the smell of smoke.
