My only negative which is the main question brought forward is, is there any plastic. Yes. The debris (hard water) filter at the top is lined with plastic, which can be pulled out and left off. Next is the water gauge on the outside is plastic for sure. Water would be exposed in that area to plastic via traveling through the tube. I'm on the very highly sensitive to chemicals/plastic etc. I've been hunting forever and decided to go with this and if I needed to just use the traditional sauce pot on the stove method of boiling water. I've run into problems with certain kettles' metal tastes also. It's quiet as far as kettles go, love the look, it holds a decent amount of water. My only negatives would be the plastic piping exposure on the outside. I don't remove the lid to fill it I fill it through the spout. It is a bit heavy, for now I can deal with that for the look! The cut off works well enough and is quite quiet, not the usual "clunk" that you get with some models once the water boils. There's a light also to tell you when the power is on. It fits easily to the base and is convenient to use. Only downsides: this is quite a heavy kettle, even when empty. Also, for those who are used to more of a straight design, because of the bulbous shape you really do have to tip this a long way over to empty it when boiling a small quantity of water. Overall though, very pleased.

Best Electric Kettle Ever! Love this kettle! Works perfectly and a great color for a retro kitchen. Absolutely no complaints. Boils water fast and switches off when it is done. Love the safety feature.
