Poor design. Subpar customer support. Don't waste your time. I ordered this unit to cool a simple 3'x4' closet I hoped to keep network equipment in. I received it and started prepping the area to provide proper exhaust. Meanwhile I started performing some testing with it to see if it would cool a temporary closet I was using until I had solidified the design for for permanent location. During my testing I kept noticing that the louvre on the front was almost completely shut; after repeated attempts to open it. I kept thinking it was my fault until it happened enough times in a row for that to be impossible. I started paying closer attention and timing how long it took to close. It would range for anywhere from 5 minutes to 40 mins. But it would always close on its own and stop blowing air in the proper direction. Eventually I decided to call NewAir's customer support and was greeted by someone who, I will say, was less than thrilled she had to answer a question about such a simple technical issue. It keeps us nice and cool during the occasional 90+ days in northern California. Oddly, sometimes the compressor turns off before achieving the target temperature. Although I don't understand why this happens, we've been able to work around it by just lowering the target temp until it gets cool enough. E.g., usually we leave it set to 69 and the compressor cycles to keep it at 73. This four-degree discrepancy is weird, and I plan to follow up with NewAir about it, but other than that it's been great. Window kit: Ours was missing the window kit even though the instruction manual and the packaging seemed to expect us to have it. We contacted NewAir through Amazon and they sent one out to us right away. It's pretty easy to set up, and after a while we realized that on no-AC days we could just leave the kit in the window and open the window anyway without it falling out.
