Keeps water hotter than Clever Dripper so makes a better cup a joe!
Love this! We have tossed the Clever Coffee Dripper and use this exclusively now. It makes a better cup of coffee than the plastic Clever Dripper because the thick porcelain keeps the coffee much hotter during the brewing process. You won't believe how much better the hotter brewing temp makes the coffee tastes. When heating the water in your kettle, pour about a cup into the dripper and let it stand for a minute to let the porcelain pre-warm.
I also prefer the porcelain to the plastic because you can get the coffee stains out. The Clever Dripper starting looking pretty gross after a couple of months.
I have had no problems with the wide mouth dripper.

Bonavita immersion dripper is perfect for your single serve pour over coffee or to steep you tea leaves. Use a No.4 paper filter and control the flow of water out of the filter by opening or closing the lever on the base. Constructed out of porcelain the Bonavita immersion dripper is very easy to clean.
This model has serious problems.
I've been using the Clever Coffee Dripper for over 4 years. We went through two of them and both eventually ended up cracking and leaking. I babied the second CCD by not doing any hot brews and cold rinses (hot/cold cycle will cause plastics to crack). After the second one in 4 years, I decided we needed something more reliable and not plastic.

So far, I bought two of these things. I bought the normal base and the wide base. My mother in law liked the one we had so much, we gave it to her and bought the wide base. Personally, I like the normal base better since it has legs that prevent it from sliding over the coffee cup's opening. The biggest problem with the wide base is that somehow, I still can't figure it out, when the coffee is flowing from the drip mechanism, it will eventually flow to the sides and drip down along the side of your coffee mug. Because the base is so wide, the coffee is leaked towards the edges. It invariably always leads to having to wipe...

I saw a friend use the Clever coffee dripper and loved the concept but don't really want to use plastic (even food grade plastic) to make coffee. This ceramic one fit the bill. We do have a 'real' coffee maker but it gets no use because the cup of coffee you get from this unit is superior and more convenient. Also, after having coffee from this immersion dripper, the stuff that comes out of the K-cup machines will be even more of a disappointment than it was to begin with...
