So far it is working
I have the 70 pint model that is black. It works in conjunction with a second 50 pint dehumidifier made by Frigidaire and they are set up on concrete blocks in my crawlspace with continuous gravity drainage into air-conditioner condenser PVC drains. This is one of several dehumidifiers I have used over the last 20 years in this house. The most recent ones were a pair of Frigidaire's and lasted about 2 1/2 years. The first Danby Arctic Air DH I ordered was DOA. The display showed that the water bucket was not engaging the relay switch but I know it was. I took it back to my local big C warehouse as I purchased it online specifically because of the availability of a local return. These things weigh nearly 50 pounds so you simply cannot ship them without a great deal of aggravation and expense. I probably could've saved about $30+ getting it on this site but where would I send it if I had to return it? Big problem. This new DH is running & reasonably quiet even when the compressor is...

Arctic Aire ADR70B1G 70 Pint Dehumidifier

Arctic Aire ADR70B1G 70 Pint Dehumidifier - Product Description

This sharp 70-pint (33.1 litre) dehumidifier is second to none when it comes to removing harmful and uncomfortable dampness from your living space, basement or office. This formidable unit can quietly and quickly eliminate moisture from areas up to approximately 4,500 square feet in size. This Energy Star-compliant model is just what the doctor ordered for those hoping to cut down on electricity bills and the R410A environmentally efficient refrigerant is designed not to harm the ozone layer. The modern electronic controls with LED display allow for trouble-free programming of the adjustable humidity settings and two-speed fan. The component will operate continuously because of the practical direct-drain system and the low-temperature mechanism will make sure the room doesn’t get any cooler than 5°C (41°F). The quiet operation won’t upset your sleeping habits and the automatic de-icer means the coils won’t suffer from ice buildup. When it comes time to clean the unit it’s can be done in a flash due to the removable filter. In addition, the easy-rolling, built-in castors enable you to move the dehumidifier from location to location quite effortlessly. This stylish appliance offers peace of mind with a 24-month warranty on parts and labor with carry-in service.

How it Works

Your Danby Dehumidifier can be broken down into 5 main components: Fan, Compressor, Reheater, Compressor Cooling Coils, and Reservoir. All of these parts fit together to pull moisture out of the air by a fan that collects air from the surrounding area and pulls it into the dehumidifier. As the air passes through, it comes into contact with the dehumidifier's cooled coils. These coils use condensation to pull moisture from the air. The collected moisture remains on the coils and drips into the dehumidifier's reservoir. The dehumidifier reheats the air and exhausts it back into the room.

Using your Danby Dehumidifier - really save on your utility bills and diminish your Carbon footprint
  • Set the Humidistat at a reasonable level, at Danby we suggest that you set the desired humidity to between 40% - 50%
  • Keep your doors and windows closed when your Danby Dehumidifier is running
  • Keep it away from sources of excessive dust or dirt, since this can very quickly clog the machine
  • Be sure to check and clean your dehumidifier's filter regularly -- this will help ensure that it's operating as efficiently as possible
  • The water produced by your Danby Dehumidifier is referred to as greywater. It is not suitable for drinking water, but it can be great for watering houseplants and flowers, since it's less salty than tap water

Arctic Aire ADR50B1G
The dehumidifier was easy to unpack and set up. I decided to use the continuous drain feature to avoid constantly removing the pan; connection was also easy (drain hose was not provided however). Unit is relatively quiet and easy to move around if necessary with the four smooth caster wheels. So far I have tried both continuous run and selected humidity; levels are selectable in increments of 5%. A nice feature is that the fan does not run continuously after target humidity is achieved. Air exhaust is from the side. Also impressive is the two-year full warranty provided with local service centers. Good value for the price paid.
