This DeLonghi Dehumidifier is Great for Ridding my Cabin's Basement of Excess Moisture that Causes Mold
Twelve years ago, my Great Aunt Birdie passed away and left me enough money to buy a cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I use it as rental property. However, between paying to keep away intruders and repairing damage caused by renters, it doesn't make me much money. Mostly, I wanted a nice getaway but who has time to get away? The cabin has a basement. It was intended as a wine cellar but I don't drink much wine. I began using it as a storage facility. I noticed mold growing on some of my personal belongings and my friend Bill urged me to get a dehumidifier. I've had several inexpensive ones but none of them were as nice as the DeLonghi DD45E Energy Star Dehumidifier, 45-Pints.

First, the dehumidifier is large. The largest one I have ever owned. Fortunately, there are handles and wheels to aid me in moving it. The dehumidifier works greet for my concrete basement which is about forty feet by twenty feet. The model that I was given does not have a pump...

With DeLonghi's DD45E Energy Star 45-pint Dehumidifier you can empty the water 2 ways, either passively with the provided 3 ft. hose or manually empty the collection tank. The electronic controls and LCD display allow you to adjust relative humidity, monitor room temperature and set the 24-hour timer. With its frontally located tank and transparent water level window, you can easily see how much water has been collected if you choose to use the tank function. The tank has a 7-liter capacity and an alarm alerts you when it is filled. Plus, this unit can be easily moved using its castor wheels and handles.
Worth the investment, this dehumidifier works magnificently!
We have owned dehumidifier's in the past, but this is the first in this price range.

If anything, we are hoping to have a dehumidifier that will work on our bedroom area which is next door to the main shower. Often, our room can feel damp and we have used dehumidifiers but cheaper ones that didn't seem to do the job.

So, we have been using the DeLonghi DD45E Energy Star Dehumidifier. for a few weeks now and we have been very pleased with this dehumidifier.

The LED panel is easy to set in F or C, easy to adjust the humidity which we tend to keep at 40% and a timer to set it off and on.

As mentioned by other reviewers, the dehumidifier can get heavy when full, but there are handles, so no problem moving it. There is also an alarm that will go off when the tank is full of water or needs to be reset. Also, the built-in tank will not over fill which is a plus and you can see the water level.

Looking at the filter, it doesn't look...
Works Great!
When I saw the UPS guy struggling up the porch steps I knew this thing was HEAVY. The box was huge and once I got it open, the dehumidifier was thankfully a bit smaller - but not much. So if you're going to get this thing into the basement, be prepared and get some help. It does have wheels and handles, but that won't help much going downstairs. Once you get past that obstacle, it's smooth sailing.

Once plugged in, the control panel guides you through. It shows both humidity and temperature and alarms when the tank is full. You can set the level of humidity you'd like to attain and it does the rest.

The fan has two speeds and can be set to come on automatically or be continuous. I'm using continuous as our basement is damp seemingly all the time. Not now, though! I'm impressed with the way the water is sucked right out of the air.

You can attach a hose and have the unit drain into a floor drain, or you can manually empty the tank which is not...
