Many sputter & splash steam & hot water continuously,unless the temp is reduced to a barely warm setting. Filters are expensive and need to be replaced every 3 months at a minimum. And, the unit cannot be used for 24 hrs. After each filter replacement, while the new filter becomes conditioned, so at least 4 times a year you'll need to devise another way of obtaining filtered water for 24 hrs., and heat it some other way. You'll also likely find it necessary to replace the entire system every 3 years or so, if the bulk of the Franke reviews are accurate. Ours lasted just about 3 yrs. -- some last a little longer, some less. Households with children might not wish to risk possible burns from the random sputtering escapes of steam & hot water that are common with these Franke dispensers.
