To our surprise this unit works as intended albeit the unusually loud fan (even on the lowest setting). But to us the white noise it generates is actually welcomed in our bedroom. It's not any louder than my custom gaming computer fans that i leave on running at night. This product is used in our room which measures 17ftx17ft. The air humidity at night is just right now. Whoever felt it appropriate to use the word "quiet" on the packaging needs to get their ears checked! My final complaint about this item is the design. It comes apart about one inch from the bottom in order to change the filter. If not put back together perfectly, it will leak from this area. And since the water tank sits above this area, it will leak the entire gallon of water! So, be very careful you put it back together correctly, and observe for a few minutes after putting the tank on to ensure it's water tight again.
