Consequently, more axial force is required to compress the washer while tightening the filter to the adapter. I found that removing the adapter from the refrigerator and installing it on the filter first was easier to do. Then you can easily install the filter/adapter assembly to the refrigerator filter attachment point. Appears to work OK.
