The "antimicrobial" layer makes doesn't prevent bacterial growth so much as prevent the humidifier from being effective. It is so thick that the air barely seems to be able to move through it and actually humidify. And it turns pink with bacteria within a few weeks. I'm thinking about just getting a different humidifier since I can't seem to make this one do it's job with these filters.
