better than the original water pad that came with unit
These water pads are great quality. They are nicer than the pad that came with the unit. I like that I can undo the velcro to install it. I rinsed it off and it came clean and went right back into service. I have hard water, but the pads have not stopped working even though there are mineral deposits on the pads.
I have had the one pad in there all winter and just pulled it out a couple of weeks ago to see how it was doing . I just rinsed it off and it was good as new.

Opens when wet
Not good. Had to tie a string around it and sew it closed. When the Velcro gets wet it didn't hold. Jammed float valve and caused a flood.
