Two things about this item: 1. Avoid buying discs with model numbers that do not end in "TX". Cuisinart puts out two versions of its discs, the TX and non-TX. With the exception of "TX" at the end of the part number, the part numbers are the same and the discs look superficially identical. BUT, the non-TX have weaker locks where it fits on the stem. Mine failed after 2 months of moderate use - the disc flies off the stem as soon as you start using it. 2. Cuisinart will only honor warranty for accessories purchased directly from them! I think it's ridiculous and should be illegal, but that's their official policy. Bottom line: spend a little more to buy the TX version of this disc directly from Cuisinart, which has a stronger attachment mechanism and is covered by warranty. |

Use it to make strips of carrots and zucchini for stir-fries and salads, and to make shreds of cheese for garnishes. It can also be used in conjunction with a slicing disc to create tiny cubes of firm vegetables, such as turnips and potatoes. The disc slots easily onto the detachable disc stem, but be sure to handle it carefully, as these blades are very sharp. --Jennifer HarrisThis julienne disc creates fine (3 mm, or approximately 1/4-inch) square strips of vegetables, fruits, and cheeses. I have used the 8mm slicing disk for carrots, potatoes and Persian cucumbers. It works well and I get nice consistent slices. For use in sous vide cooking, the consistent slices are a must for reducing cooking time and nice presentation. For hors d'oeuvres where presentation is so important, the clean consistent slices are even more important. In short, it does what it says and does it well. |
