My first time buying a non-GE authentic part, and I must say I had my reservations. The filter came in a decent box, the seal was just so-so, but the actual filter looked and felt fine. One of the things I did, that GE authentic filters have you do, is to fill the filter with tap water until bubble stop coming out of it. Then I placed it in a glass and filled the glass with water until the filter was submerged. I left it like this for about 15 minutes. This took the air bubbles out of the filter ahead of time, plus water attracts water so I knew the flow would be fine. I switched out the filter, then moved to run 2 gals through the filter. It burbed a tiny bit of air in the beginning, then ran smoothly. The water tastes great. I would definitely buy this filter again. I am very pleased - especially with the money I saved not buying a GE authentic part!!

I've had a couple of random comments about the water tasting good. Works great! It did take a little longer than normal for the water to clear up after the initial installation... but the water tastes great!! And, trust me... I drink a LOT of water... and it's definitely filtering out a lot of the nasty tasting impurities in my unfiltered tap. Matter of fact...
