To remove your filter, simply remove the dirt cup from the back of the cleaner by pressing the grey button located on top of the dirt cup, once dirt cup is out of the cleaner, remove the black cap that houses the filter, remove the filter and replace. Because these filters are washable you can remove the filter the same way and tap over a garbage can to remove loose dirt and debris and wash with water until it is clean. Note: Do not operate cleaner without filter and do not operate cleaner with a wet or damp filter. Please ensure filter is completely dry before replacing, we recommend drying for 24-48 hours. You should always replace your filter if it begins to deteriorate or will not wash clean. All vacuum brand and model names are registered trademarks of vacuum manufacturers. NOT a good replacement for the Hoover Linx filter I purchased these filters in January of 2012, believing the statement made that they replaced the Hoover Linx filter. Well, they are very different. The Crucial filter is just a disk of plain foam, lacking the attached mesh layer of the Hoover Linx filter.
