I learned pretty quickly that the top of the bag is tapered to a size that nicely fits around the mouth of a mason jar, which makes it really easy to get coffee on. I usually fill the jar when the sock is still around the mouth (1 cup to 3 cups, coffee to water), just to ensure the grounds get an even bloom before I let it steep (18-ish hours).
