I found it very annoying that there is so little information about the filters. Very few vendors publish the filter specifications. Very few explain the internal construction nor the filter medium. Since filter performance is completely dependent on the internal design and materials of the filter, there is no way to intelligently choose between the various vendors. So I took my used filter and cut it up for all to see and posted the internal pictures on the product page. You will see this is a well built carbon filter. I am guessing it is activated carbon but have no idea since the vendor says nothing about the materials. The carbon layer is about 0.5 inch thick and well compressed. BEWARE......NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR DA29-00003G !!!!! These DO NOT fit my samsung counter depth refrigerator. They are NOT COMPATIBLE with the original DA29-00003G that comes with the refrigerator. See my photo and pay close attention to the bottom of the "neck" of the filter, The grooves are different !!!! It will not click into place in the refrigerator, anyone on here who says otherwise is WRONG, you are able to just pull it out of the filter socket, which means water will leak all over the place inside the refrigerator.
