I was unimpressed with the cost and life expectancy of the infridge water filters that were in my Whirlpool and samsung fridge units. They worked fime for short periods of time but were expensive and did not seem to work after about 6 months. I found out that if you remove the in fridge filter that comes with most refridgerators that the water will bypass the filter port and still work fine. Then I installed this filter inline prior to the water entering the water valve for the fridge and boom no need to change a water filter for 4-5 years. Just bought my latest replacement units about a year early as they were on sale at the local big box store for $25 each. this is a no brainer the oem in fridge filters were $30 each and lasted 6mths. So $30 X 10 (5 years) =$300 Vs. one fileter that lasts 5 years and cost $25. Buy one and give it a try you will never go back to the oem filters again.

First one lasted for almost 7 years and the second one was well over 6 years. Now we have a fridge with just ice, no water in the door. So that helps. But we do use a lot of ice. Iced tea drinkers. So if this one lasts as long as the first two then I will still be just as happy with a cheap easy to use product. It has 1/4" push to connect fittings on both ends and It has adapters for 1/4" screw on connections for 1/4" supply lines that can be used if you use screw on connections. It's about 14" to 16" long and about 3" diameter. weighs about 1 lb dry and about 2.5 once filled with water.

Good job This is my second filter. The first one worked just as described so after several years we placed it with the same brand filter. So far as we can tell it does a good job and have no complaints. The price is ok. If you need this type of filter I recommend it. I will purchase again as needed. I only gave it 4 stars because I have not used other filters of this type so have no reference
