I don't normally write reviews but felt this could help others. I was a little worried about purchasing this product after I read all the bad reviews about it tasting like plastic or possibly being counterfeit. Fortunately I purchased mine through National Trade Supply and it works great. No plastic taste and mine does have the word disposable spelled correctly. When I first put the filter in I heard a rushing noise that was water flowing into the filter. Then I ran about a gallon of water through the dispenser and took a sample about a quart after I started. The sample was a grayish color which I considered a good thing because it showed that the activated carbon was fresh. After the gallon the water tasted great and I have not had any issues from it. A few notes. I did go to a local appliance store and check this same filter out before I bought it from online. It was priced at $50. This one i've just received was in a non-sealed box. It was greasy with thumb prints all over it. I have no assurance that they didn't just pluck it out of the trash and mailed to me. Oh, did I mention the 1st 2 cups of water taste just awful. Now I am having to order a new one!

Counterfeit Looks to be a counterfeit item to me. Package was damaged, slime all over the filter and misspellings on the label ("disposable" spelled as "dipsosable"). Water tasted disgusting. Returned for a refund. Shipped from Caribbean Appliance Parts.
