This is seriously the BEST humidifier I have ever purchased. It is superior to all others. The humidistat accurately displays the current humidity in the room and allows the machine to run on "auto pilot." The craftsmanship and parts are of the highest quality. The machine holds more water than the advertised 2.5 gallon reservoir. This is because the actual machine holds approximately one and a half reservoirs of water. When you first place the filled water reservoir on the machine it completely empties into the machine. You can then refill the reservoir and when you place it on the machine again half of the reservoir will empty into the machine. You can then tap off the reservoir and now the machine plus the reservoir is holding approximately five and a half gallons of water. Its great, you rarely have to add water. It wasn't obnoxiously bad, but the unit did vibrate a fair amount and was noisy, even on low fan speed, when we first got it. I'm very handy with this sort of thing, so rather than go through the hassle and expense of exchanging it, I just fixed it.
