I also own a glass-lined Melitta (the one in the picture), which came with the Bona Vita drip coffee maker (my wife got me this one, because she drinks regular, and I drink decaf - it's handy to have two separate pots). Because I have both, I'm in a good position to review both. The all-stainless unit is obviously sturdier - and I suspect that's why they replaced the old model. If enough people complain about shattered pots, they'll eventually change the design. The lid on the all-stainless also has fewer places to gather gunk than the glass-lined one. Finally - hot and flavorful coffee. I did quite a bit of research before buying the Melitta Pour-Over Coffee Brewer. I was looking at Bonavita reviews and discovered that the replacement carafe is the same as the Melitta. Since the Melitta was 35 dollars and the Bonavita $150, I decided to try the Melitta. We live near Denver where the boiling point of water is around 200 degrees, so I bought an electric kettle and have the proper brewing temperature (or as hot as it can get where we live). The funnel is very well made and sits securely on the carafe. The hole is a bit to the side and not quite at the bottom which I think makes it less likely to drip when removed after brewing. The carafe has a wide opening, glass liner, secure insulating lid and does not dribble when coffee is poured. The coffee stays hot for a several hours. We did side-by-side tests with the same coffee brewed with the old coffee maker and another brew and go type brewer and the Melitta performed much better - hotter and full-flavored. And some types...
