My new side by side I got this past March 2014 it's ice & water filter produced crisp clean water that was easy on the taste buds to drink like it was from a bottle and I hate drinking water. I never give reviews till now but after installing and checking for leaks which there wasn't any and it fit good and flushed it out with 6 to 8 glasses of water to make sure any charcoal or residue was flushed out but even a week later taking a big drink it felt like little particles that caught in back of throat causing it to feel inflamed and a bitter taste and it's been a hour and I still have the odd taste. So even though it will put a dent in are already tight budget we will pay the extra and get the lg filter next time even if their price gouging a bit.

I bought this because it is a cheaper replacement for my 18 months old LG filter. It installed just fine and fitted perfectly. However, the water quality is extremely poor even after 4 gallons of water flushing through this new filter. My tap water has 465 ppm of TDP. My 18 months old LG filter has 97 ppm. This "new" filter was able to get the water down only to 420 ppm. Acceptable drinking water is 300 ppm. The bottom line: do not waste your money or risking your health buying this product.
