The product said it would replace the UKF8001 model filter that I had. It worked for a few days before making a horrible grinding noise and no more water would come out. If i kept taking out the filter and draining it, I could put it back in and get another day's worth of use out of it. I thought the refrigerator had broken, but decided to try to get the actual filter model that I was supposed to, and it has now worked perfectly for the last two weeks.

I've owned a Maytag fridge for over 5 years & always used the "official" Maytag UKF8001 filters, until I bought a 2 pack of the OnePurify filters from Amazon on December 15 2014. I thought I had found a bargain (at nearly half the cost), until I actually tried replacing my old filter yesterday. I didn't think too much of the volumes of black carbon that spewed out at first...that never happened with the Maytag filters, but since you're supposed to run a couple gallons of water through before drinking, I thought nothing of it. Then halfway through the first gallon, my fridge started making this horrible groaning/grinding noise. I stopped dispensing & the noise stopped too. When I started up again, the noise quickly followed. It got so bad I switched out the filter for it's twin in my 2-pack. The second one was worse than the first, making that horrid noise from the very start. I ended up putting the first filter back in. All this time, the water...

Warning, don't buy these! I would strongly caution anyone to not buy these filters. I bought a two pack of these thinking that I would be set for at least a year (6 months per filter). Boy was I wrong. The first filter lasted about a month before it starting to make loud gargling noises and spew out fine black particulate in the water. I put in the other filter and it lasted about a week before it started doing the same thing. We never had these types of problems with the OEM filters. They do cost more, but I would highly suggest sticking to the manufacturer made filters. These are a total waste of time and money.
