Plus sides are that this brew station is generally easy to operate with easy to clean up features; there's only two items to be cleaned, the urn that hold coffee and the filter/grounds holder. Both items are easy to clean and simple to remove/replace. Programming isn't completely intuitive and I wish they'd take a lesson or two from my previous coffee maker in that department. Items I didn't like were that the brew station won't let you fill up a travel mug easily (I use a 16 ounce travel mug most mornings) and the sticky feet on the bottom prevent you from easily pulling the station out to make coffee in the morning (the engineers did design it to fit under a cabinet but when you have to pull it out and then push it in each time you question the design a little. She usually uses a little plastic drip thing on top of her cup and then a heated water pot so the coffee is prepared moments before she drinks and she can make one cup at a time. When I saw a chance to try one of these it was going up against her usual dislike of coffee makers. It faired surprisingly well. The hook with this one is the internal decanter. The coffee is kept inside the machine and dispensed like a soda machine at the local fast food restaurant. Takes up too much counter real estate! The Proctor Silex Brew Station makes good coffee and has some great features. Unfortunately, for me, one negative feature outweighs the positives. On the plus side, the coffee maker heats up to a perfect temperature to extract the flavor from the coffee grounds. Many coffee makers don't seem to do that, resulting in a weak brew and a lukewarm cup of coffee. The programmability is also nice, allowing you to set up the nice before and wake to a fresh pot of coffee. If you drink coffee throughout the day, the dispenser is nice. I've left coffee in the pot for several hours and it still tastes good. I can't speak for all day. The unit is easy to clean as well. The huge negative for me is the behemoth size! This cofffee maker is about twice the size of a conventional coffee maker and simply takes up too much space on my kitchen counter.
