Make sure you turn off the ice maker before removing the old one. Also, make sure you run a couple gallons through the filter before drinking the water out of the fridge. When the filter is first installed, it will hiss and spit some air for about the first gallon. However, after a gallon or two, the water flows smoothly and tastes great. Product description claims the filter is NSF 42/53 but that is not stated anywhere on the filter, it's packaging, or included literature. The filter only states that it reduces chlorine and odors which would only be NSF 42. Furthermore, the product description says the filter is good for 400 gallons (depending on water condition) but the filter clearly states that it is only good for 300 gallons. You may also want to know that the product is manufactured in China.

tastes just like the expensive OEM filter water. Definitely needs to have 4 or 5 glasses of water flushed through it before you use it. The OEM filters are pre flushed. Otherwise it works great and tastes just like the expensive OEM filter water. 4 stars because they aren't pre flushed.
