I was very pleased at how fast I received my replacement filters. They come in a sheet in which you can use your old filter as a pattern. These filters were impossible to find at a store. I was so very glad to find them online and the cost being so low.

Rival Deep Fryer Replacement FiltersElectric deep fryers are one of life's deliciously guilty pleasures. Part of what makes them great is that they're neither as messy nor as smelly as deep frying done in an open pot of oil. And it's the filters that keep them that way. Rival deep fryer replacement filters come as sheets of charcoal filter (black) and grease filter (white). Each sheet is large enough that it can be cut down to fit almost any brand of deep fryer: Rival, T-Fal, Presto, Sunbeam, Oster, or Delonghi. Depending on the size of the filter needed for a particular machine, one package of filters can yield as many as 4 charcoal and 2 grease filters.

To replace filters, remove old filters but do not discard. Trace the old filter onto the filter sheet to match the size. (White grease filter can be washed in hot soapy water first to avoid messiness while tracing.) Cut around the traced outline and insert filter according to the instructions for the specific model of deep fryer. Each filter sheet measures 6 by 8-1/2 inches. --Garland Withers
Better than expected

I purchased a very good Rival 3-liter deep-fryer over the internet and filters are not available at the local WalMart. The product description is inaccurate: with careful placement I easily cut 6 charcoal and 3 grease filters. The grease filters are thicker than the one supplied with my fryer, and I have to consider that a good thing. Overall, a better value than the description would suggest. If you use your Rival deep-fryer as much as I do, you need this. (I use light olive oil to fry - makes french fries that are actually *good* for you!)
A Must for Deep Fryers
If you own a deep fryer and do not know about these yet, chances are you really need these. Depending on how often you use your deep fryer, you could need replacements in less than a month.

So, what do they do? Simple, they keep oily fumes from invading your house when your frying-up a batch of french-fries. The oily smell in the air is not normal, and the fumes can leave an oily residue on anything and everything. So, you gotta have them.

As far as I can tell, Rival is the only company that still makes the filters for home units at a reasonable price.
