To lock the filter into place, you have to press it into its slot and the clip is supposed to catch and hold the filter in place under tension. The clip that comes with this replacement filter did not lock it into place; it's not specced exactly like the one from the factory. Luckily I had not thrown away the old filter because the clips are removable and slide off. I removed the clip from the factory filter (needed some light taps from a small hammer) and slid it onto the replacement.
