Good - caught the leak, bad - some water damage to wood. Pulled the refrigerator out from the wall, cleaned all the dust to accurately track the leak which was the valve (part number was on the valve). Not able to purchase a new valve in our area (found out they wanted $80 for one) so shut off water and ordered part. Very easy to install (see youtube video) - unplug appliance, secure water, clean area/vacuum coils, unscrew old valve, remove wire lead, remove water inlet tube, remove water outlet tube (by first removing retaining clip); reverse order installation. Run about 2 gallons of water through system to check workings and check for any leaks. Perfect part and fit! Saved $40 on the part and about $200 on a repairman service call. Dissatisfied that a $2000 LG refrigerator would use a critical water valve that broke and leaked in 4 years. Water damage could have been serious if gone unnoticed.

Can't believe I went without this for 2 years The water dispenser and ice maker had very little pressure and didn't know what went wrong. Called couple of repairmen and they really didn't know what was wrong. Told me it could cost around 300.00 to fix. I wasn't going to pay that much especially when didn't know what was wrong. It was going on 2 years and one day there was water leaking all over the floor and coming from under frig. Took back apart and found that this part was leaking into drip pan and it got full so started leaking on floor. Once replaced this piece, the water pressure was back to normal. I was sooo excited!!

Loved the supply of this valve (but never buying LG again!) I have found all experiences posted here the same as mine - Ruined hardwood, cracked tile all because just after 4 years, LG's plastic valve was cracked and leaking with no water sensor. To top it off, LG would not sell me this part (even though it is off warranty) and only offered through their service tech companies at a large charge -- thankfully found it here. Shame on you LG! The fact it is available to bypass the "it is our policy sir" approach is fantastic. Obviously this has been my saviour -- (I think this is the best positive yet negative posting I have ever made!)
