We followed the directions and flushed about 5 gallons of water through before using. The water is clear and tastes good however, there is a different taste than the PUR filter I had in before. The previous filter was smooth with no aftertaste. This filter noted on the box that it allows more Fluoride through which may account for the different taste. I am not opposed to more fluoride so we may just get use to the different taste down the road. The shipping was fast and it arrived well packaged.
