They are identical in appearance to the branded items at the local home improvement stores and work perfectly at a price that eliminates any reluctance to change them out whenever. Water in warm air is an obvious mold environment, so I am inclined to change them out fairly frequently. We also have fairly hard water (recently dealt with via a softener) and the pads stood up to the mineralization as well as any pad from local retailers. No leaks and no issues. Perfectly adequate product. I have no hesitation recommending it. One suggestion - clean the plastic frame diligently to remove any mineral or bacterial contaminants and these will show little of either for a respectable period of time thereafter.

Works great Easy install (did it myself) and bought an extra or 2 for the future. I ruined the previous filter by accidentally "washing off" the coating on the filter.... That isn't "build up" or hard water deposits left from use, it is supposed to be there to help with the water absorb and distribute the water to the humidifier more evenly. Don't do what I did...
